Giving Instructions

Giving Instructions
When you want to ask someone to do something, you’re gonna giving him/her some instructions. But do you really know what is Giving Instructions exactly?????
Okay... Giving instruction is an expression to ask someone to do something that we want. Instructions usually begin with infinitive without to (verb base).
To make an instruction sounds more polite, use the word ‘please’ at the beginning or at the end of the instruction.

Let’s check it out here are some examples of the instructions

We use as commanding word in the form of infinite without to, such as :

Listen carefully!

Close the window!

Sit down!

Keep silent!

Wash your hand!

Eat your meal!

Clean the board!

Sweep the floor!

Switch off the phone in class!

Move the chair!

Open your book!

Imperative sentences are used to give command and make polite request. The difference between a command and a request lies in the speaker’s tone of voice and the use of “please”. “Please” can come at the beginning or end of a request.

Examples :

Please press the button gently!

Open the door, please!

Please read the rules first!

Please read the direction for use first!

Remove the pan from the heat, please!

Sit down, please!

Please sit down!

Please listen to me!

Don’t disturb, please!

Please open the window!

Pass me the sugar, please!

The simple form of a verb is used in imperative sentence.
Negative form : don’t + the simple form of verb.

Example :

a.          Teacher    : Close the door!
Students  : Yes, sir.

b.          X : Don’t sleep on the table!
Y : Why not?

If we do not use a verb as a commanding word, use be + adjective.

Example :

Be careful.

Be on time.

Be gentle.

Be quiet.

Be yourself.

Be a good student.

Be happy.

Be strong.

Be calm.

Be honest.

When we forbid someone to do something, use dont + verb infinitive without to or dont + be + adjective.

Examples :

Don’t move!

Don’t do it!

Don’t be naughty!

Don’t be noisy!

Don’t approach!

Don’t eat!

Don’t disturb!

Don’t touch!

Don’t + Verb1 + O
Don’t do that!

Don’t open the door!

Don’t close the window!

No + V-ing

No smoking!

No parking!

No swimming!

No fishing!

No eating!

Here are the examples of Giving Instructions symbols that we can see on the road.
